Alice Boucher Elementary is one of eight Lafayette schools being shown some love for this year’s “Love Our Schools” initiative.
Members of the community will gather together on July 13 to share that love in a big way, by tackling some of the school’s biggest revitalization efforts.
“We have great things going on in the school to revitalize the school and to put some new energy,” says Principal Catherine Guillory. “Adding some new color to the school is a big thing, and a big thing for the children.”
That color will be introduced into the many hallways that make up Alice Boucher Elementary. Guillory says that each hall will be color-coded to add energy to an otherwise gray building.
And the “energy” doesn’t stop at the hallways. Classrooms will also get a face lift with new paint to soften some extra-bright spaces.
The outside of Alice Boucher will also be getting some attention.
Out on the playground, basketball goals with peeling paint will be pressure washed and draped in color. And the court itself will get a refresh, to bring the map of the United States back to life.
“We’ll be painting [the map] and adding a little interest,” says Guillory. “We’ll add the Louisiana Purchase.”
The work to be done at Alice Boucher and at seven other Lafayette schools on July 13 is substantial, but it’s for an amazing cause.
