Chief: Three-year-old accidentally drowns in Lake Arthur

The Lake Arthur Police Department says a three-year-old drowned on Memorial Day at Lake Arthur Park.

Police say the call came in at 4:00 pm on Monday regarding an unresponsive child found near the beach. Chief Kobi Turner says that upon arrival officers began CPR while waiting for medical personnel to arrive. Medical personnel continued to administer CPR but were unable to find a pulse.

The child was pronounced dead by the Jeff Davis Parish Coroner at 5:20 pm, according to the Turner.

Turner says that the drowning has been ruled accidental. The identity of the child has not been released.
