The city of Eunice is moving forward to have its own Library system.
The Board of Aldermen approved a pair of ordinances, Tuesday one to repeal the current ordinance forming the Opelousas-Eunice system. The second ordinance is to re-establish the Eunice Library.
Currently, the city of Eunice is paying 40% of the operations which includes utilities at the Eunice location and part of the utilities for the Opelousas branch.
Eunice mayor Scott Fonetont met with Port Barre city officials earlier this week to tour their library and discuss how they run their library.
The board will continue the library discussions at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
