The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says that warrants were issued on Thursday for 22-year-old Terance Dupre and 21-year-old Davonte Mathews both of Montegut on a charge of second-degree murder.

Deputies say that Dupre is in custody but that a search is still ongoing for Mathews.

According to deputies, Dupre and Mathews allegedly shot and killed 53-year-old Kirby Courteaux Jr. of Montegut before dumping his body in Morgan City.

Courteaux’s body was found on Thursday morning in a wooded area near Levee Road and Veterans Boulevard. An autopsy revealed Courteaux suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Terrebonne deputies learned through their investigation that Courteaux was killed near a boat launch in Lafourche Parish.

Bullet casings and other evidence were recovered at the scene of the boat launch, according to deputies.
