NBA Draft packs a number of local prospects

BROOKLYN (KATC) The NBA Draft will pack a number of Louisiana base prospects. Some will hear their names called Thursday, others will try to make the league through free agency and the G-League. Below is a look at where these guys might end up.

JAKEENAN GANT – Louisiana
The two-time Sun Belt defensive player of the year will have his work cut out to see an NBA roster this fall. Gant likely won’t be drafted Thursday, despite working out for a number of teams including the defending champion Toronto Raptors. Gant will hope for a summer league invite and G-League contract there after.

TREMONT WATERS – LSU
The 5-11 guard is battling a small frame that tends to turn teams away. Still, the guard continues to show up on a number of mock drafts in the mid-to-late second round. It’s no slam dunk that Waters is drafted. But Trey should see at least a summer league invite and G-League contract

NAZ REID – LSU
Naz Reid features to be an NBA center. He is a consensus draft pick according to ten different mock drafts cited in an Advocate report. One draft board has him as high as 26th overall, a pick by the Washington Wizards.

COREY DAVIS – HOUSTON
The Lafayette native is a projected late-second round pick, meaning he may suffer a similar fate to Waters. Davis is generally considered undersized a 6-feet-1-inches. Davis has worked out with a number of teams including the Celtics and Lakers.

The NBA Draft is Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN
